We love where we work.  Ashtree Farm, our home venue just outside the gorgeous village of West Malling in Kent, is truly beautiful.  When clients come here, they really feel like they’ve got away for the same old grind for a day, which is amazing considering we are less than an hour by train from London.

We like to mix things up, though and our activities for corporate team building days regularly take us further afield.  Here’s our top 5 favourite ideas for your team building day around our regular haunts in Kent.

1)    4x4 Treasure Hunt

4x4 treasure hunt

Such a great team activity!  Enjoy your very own adventure through the ‘garden of England’ with a list of challenges to complete against the clock.  Each team has its own car and driver, an Ordnance Survey Map (remember them?!) and camera to collect photographic evidence.  What sort of challenges will you be asked to do?  Well, it might be to procure obscure items, gather your team in an unusual place, carry out a funny task or solve a puzzle.  Then it’s back to home base to tally up the scores, swap entertaining anecdotes and present prizes to the winning team.  Finish your day with one of our famous BBQs!

2)    On lake treasure hunt at Hever Castle

Hever Castle Lake Treasure Hunt

Sunning Hever Castle is the only place we do this in Kent and it’s awesome

Each team of up to 8 people is launched onto the 38 acre lake in a good old-fashioned rowing boat.  This is when you find out very quickly, who in your team possesses the most co-ordination and who has a great sense of humour!

Armed with a map featuring clue locations, you are each sent to a different start point.  Collect as many as possible in the time allowed.  Stay dry.  Enjoy the view and the experience.  As Kenneth Grahame said, “Believe me…….there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats”  We completely agree.

3)    Multi-activity team building day at Ashtree Farm

Of course we’re going to include our own venue here too, because, well…it is the best!

An event here can include tearing around the apache rally course at hair raising speed, meeting some fascinating birds of prey, producing a giant artistic creation, building and racing a raft, quad biking to name a few. Pretty much anything you can imagine, you can do here.  We have off-road courses, wide open fields, a gorgeous lake and woodland, as well as indoor facilities.  Plus, it's typically..... 'Kentish'.

4)    Dinner and drinks at The Swan

Swan West Malling

Sometimes, it’s just a good idea to let your hair down and get to know your colleagues better away from the office environment.  You’ll want to go somewhere good and we think The Swan at West Malling is pretty special.  There’s a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere, amazing food, an inviting bar, great coffee and gorgeous surroundings.  We recommend it to our clients for after-event dining, but it could just as easily be the main event!  Restaurants like this are few and far between.

5)    Eco Challenge at Penshurst Place

Penshurst place

Penshurst Place near Tonbridge has the perfect dynamic natural setting to run our Eco-Challenge activity.

What’s involved?

Think ‘Scrapheap Challenge’ without the grime and welders.  Each team is tasked with designing and building a zero carbon footprint vehicle.  The bodywork design and decoration is where the teams really get to use their imagination and creativity.

The afternoon culminates in a head to head race.
